I had the privilege of working for Jim
Crockett in 1972 at Guitar Player and
being onboard for the many wonderful publications including the special on Jimi Hendrix with the uncirculated record called "Beginnings" which was attached to the magazine. I am so happy Jim and his family have done so well over the years. He made a difference in the lives of myself and my best friend Suzi. Thanks Jim, Becky and all the old staff of GP.

This is just to let you know that Guitar Player Magazine changed my life. I started reading it in Australia in 1978, couldn't believe the number of wonderful musicians that it exposed, and it also inspired ideas about stringing guitars, pickups, and furthering my education with guitar.
I had always wanted to come to the US, and when I read the article on Guitar Institute Of Technology, and Howard Roberts I thought, this is it. I applied, was accepted into GIT, and graduated in September, 1982. I joined the Los Angeles Songwriters Showcase, where I pitched lots of self produced demos. In 1991, I had a song on hold with a major artist for eight months. I used to work repairing guitar amps, multitrack reel to reels, speakers, mics, and mixers. This helped me to apply that knowledge to recording, especially with the change to digital. I miss the warm sound of reel to reel, but we have to move with the times. Last year, (2008), after many years of struggling with red tape, I became a US citizen. I have been to two Nashville Songwriters Festivals, and a Music Row veteran, since 1992, is plugging three of my songs.
In the process, I lost track of Guitar Player Magazine, but pick it up, when I see it on the stands. When I searched for the lost trails of Jim Crockett, I was so happy to find the rest of the story. I want him to know that his contribution made a difference in guitar players lives and want to thank him. I appreciate the update.
