Rockcritics Podcast: Talkin’ Election Blues
Posted by s woods on November 3, 2008
Actually, not a podcast so much as a broadcast: Phil Dellio invited me on to his Sunday morning college radio show yesterday (at CKLN in Toronto) to talk about Obama and the U.S. election and to play some music and sound clips (think of us as the Gergen and Blitzer of Canadian rockcrit). The audio in the first eight minutes got completely mangled, so there’s unfortunately no context provided up front, though I don’t think it’s particularly complicated to follow what’s here. (Each of these segments is approximately 20 minutes.)
Part 1
Music: DJ Shoe, “The Simple Things You See” (theme music); Jan & Lorraine, “Number 33″; Figghole, “Red, White and MILF” (YouTube); Bob Dylan, “It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry”
Part 2
Music: Ron Clark Academy students, “You Can Vote However You Like” (YouTube)
Part 3
Music: Stevie Wonder, “My Cherie Amour”; Google Dolls, “Mr. Obama Save My Planet” (MySpace)
Part 4
Music: Neil Young, “Cripple Creek Ferry”; Fleetwood Mac, “Landslide”
