I love Stanley’s description of “Tragedy” by the Fleetwoods: “Womb-like teen ballad.” Their version’s nice, though I prefer the sobbier, higher- (in North America) charting version by Thomas Wayne & the Delons. The song’s quoted btw in The Aesthetics of Rock, though I don’t think it’s specified which version.
