After hours of painstaking research and reflection this is where I landed. 50 songs pulled from decades past, each a perpetual favorite. As a proud member of the streaming generation, it seems only right that my list is a melting pot of one-hit wonders and Pitchfork-approved perfect 10s. Common themes include: big guitars, big emotions and big drums.

Great list! “Hyperballad” was dropped from mine in the final revision, so happy to see it show up here. Also, the inclusion of the only Backstreet Boys song I can stand, over their more popular favorite, is nice. Finally, I don’t think I expected Go West to show up on any of these lists, so…cool?
I listed “Hide and Seek” the last time I did a long songs list and it still sounds great to me — THE great novelty record of the last 20 years, maybe? (Which I don’t intend as a slight in any way, and not that it’s necessarily *funny*, just sort of in a universe of its own.)
